Our guest was Kim Lavallee, Executive Director of the Community Foundation of Portage & District. She is pictured here second from the left along with Rotarians and CFPD Board members Cathie McFarlane, Amy Chappellaz and Sherrie Palmer.
Kim gave an overview of the history of the foundation which began in 1994. Since then, donors have grown the endowment fund to over $12 million dollars, resulting in over $3 million being granted back to the community.
She explained the four ways donations can be made to the Foundation:
- to the Smart & Caring Community Fund,
- Field of Interest Funds,
- Designated Funds, Awards and Bursaries that are considered Designated Funds, and
- Donor Advised Funds.
She also noted that they are currently accepting applications for their fall granting cycle and invites inquiries and applications from not-for-profit community-based groups working to apply. More information and forms can be found on their website at www.cfpdi.ca
Thanks for joining us Kim!
