Betty-Jean Checkley and Brent Froese from the Portage la Prairie Chapter of Habitat for Humanity joined Rotary today to share Habitat's accomplishments in our community.
Within its approximately 20 year history here, Habitat has completed 11 homes and the 12th and 13th will be ready this coming spring. Habitat relies on a dedicated board and volunteer base along with the strong support of local trades. For selected families, terms of ownership include no down payment, a 15 year mortgage provided interest free with payments limited to match income, and 500 hours of sweat equity. Habitat is always looking for volunteers interested in being part of improving the future for families and the broader community as a whole. Thanks for joining us Betty-Jean and Brent!
